No, appointments are not necessary. You must bring the entire document (not just the signature page) and a valid, federally issued ID.
→ What is the cost for notary services?
Notary services: $5 per stamp
Witness services: $3 per witness and per signature
→ Can you notarize a document with a copy of my ID?
No, we require the physical ID card—photos or copies are not accepted.
→ Can I notarize a document if I need a witness?
If your document requires a witness in addition to the notary, you must bring someone with you, as not all locations have multiple employees available to serve as witnesses.
→ Can I notarize a document on behalf of a business?
Yes, but if you are signing on behalf of a business, you must provide an authorization letter granting you permission to do so.

→ What do I need for a Power of Attorney (POA) document?
If the POA lists two names with "AND" (not "OR"), both people must be present.
We require the original POA document—we will make the necessary copies.
→ What documents are needed for a title transfer when the owner has passed away?
The state only accepts:
Original death certificates
Short certificates
We cannot process transfers with photocopies of these documents.

→ Can I renew my driver’s license with you?
Yes, we can renew a standard PA driver’s license. However, we cannot take photos. We provide a camera card, which you must take to a PennDOT location to get your new photo taken.
The camera card is valid as a temporary driver’s license, but you must take your photo within 60 days.
→ Can I apply for a duplicate driver’s license with you?
Yes, we can apply for a duplicate license, but not for CDL licenses. CDL holders must go to a PennDOT Driver License Center.
→ Can I update my name or other details on my driver’s license?
We can only process address changes. All other changes must be done at a PennDOT Driver License Center.
→ Can I get a REAL ID from you?
No, we do not issue REAL IDs. You must go to a PennDOT Driver License Center to obtain one.
→ Can I get a PA driver’s license if I’m moving from another state?
No, out-of-state residents must go to a PennDOT Driver License Center to obtain a PA driver’s license.

→ What do I need for a PA title transfer?
Both the buyer (title recipient) and seller (current title holder) must be present.
Seller: Title and a valid ID for notarization
Buyer: Valid PA driver’s license or ID and proof of insurance if we are issuing or transferring a plate
No insurance? No problem! We can assist with obtaining insurance.
→ Can I transfer my license plate to a new vehicle?
Yes! If you’re purchasing another vehicle, your plate can be transferred, and your registration will roll over.
If you are not getting a new vehicle, turning in your plate to PennDOT is recommended to avoid possible suspensions. We can handle this for a $10 fee.
→ Can I gift a vehicle to a family member?
Yes, a PA resident can gift a vehicle to another PA resident. However:
Plates can only be transferred between parent/child or spouses.
Company-owned vehicles cannot be gifted.
Out-of-state titles cannot be gifted to PA residents.
→ Can I get a duplicate title over the counter?
No, we cannot issue a title or duplicate title the same day.
→ What are the requirements for out-of-state vehicle registration?
The vehicle must be present for VIN verification, or an MV-41 form must be completed before registration.
Out-of-state pickup trucks and trailers must be weighed and have their VIN verified by a PA inspection mechanic.
→ Can I use a copy of my title to transfer ownership?
No, we need the physical title document. Copies are not accepted.
→ Can I use a photo or screenshot of my driver’s license or insurance card?
No, we require original scanned copies at actual size.
→ Do I need to sign my vehicle registration?
Yes! A PA police officer can fine you up to $143 for not signing your registration. (If there are multiple owners, only one person needs to sign.)

→ What happens when I switch insurance companies?
When you cancel your old policy, the insurance company reports the cancellation to PennDOT. However, your new insurance provider is not required to report it.
To avoid registration suspension, you should report your new policy to PennDOT. If you receive a notice from PennDOT, address it immediately

→ Can you verify a VIN remotely?
No, VIN verification must be done in person. We cannot accept:
Photos of the VIN plate
Video calls for verification
VIN verification can be completed by:
A PA notary (if the vehicle is brought in)
A PA inspection mechanic
A police officer (if the vehicle is in another state, the officer must complete an MV-41 form with an original signature)
→ Can you verify the weight of my truck or trailer?
No, weight verification must be done by a PA inspection mechanic on an MV-41 form.
→ Do you perform vehicle safety inspections?
No, vehicle safety inspections must be done by a PA-certified mechanic.

→ Can I pay with tap services, Apple Pay, or Google Wallet?
Yes, we accept tap services, Apple Pay, and Google Wallet for Northeast Title & Tag transactions. However, Pack & Send transactions require a physical card.
→ Do you buy or sell gold, stamps, money orders, or gift cards?
No, we no longer buy or sell gold, stamps, or money orders. We do not buy gift cards or cash checks.
→ Do you accept QR codes?
No, we do not accept QR codes.
→ Do you charge additional fees?
Yes, we charge service fees in addition to state fees. We also charge a 3% fee for credit card and check payments.
→ Do you offer faxing or email services?
Yes! We can fax and email documents for you.
→ Can you print and tape shipping labels?
Yes, we can:

Tape labels for $1.00
→ Do you provide public restrooms / bathroom ?
No, we do not have a public restroom available.

Each office has a posted cutoff time for title transfers and apportion work. Please arrive early to ensure your transaction can be completed the same day.
