Apportioned Registration Services
What Is Apportioned Registration?
Apportioned registration, part of the International Registration Plan (IRP), is required for commercial vehicles operating in two or more states or jurisdictions. It allows you to pay registration fees based on the mileage traveled in each state—so you're legal, compliant, and covered everywhere you operate.
Vehicles that typically require apportioned plates include:
Trucks with two axles and a gross weight over 26,000 lbs
Three or more axle vehicles, regardless of weight
Vehicles in combination (like tractor-trailers) over 26,000 lbs combined
This applies to interstate trucking, fleet operators, and owner-operators.
Northeast Title & Tag is your trusted source for IRP registration and apportioned plates in Pennsylvania. We offer full support for commercial carriers needing to register vehicles that travel across state lines—and we handle it all right in our offices.
Important Deadline: May 31st
The IRP registration period in Pennsylvania runs from June 1 to May 31 each year. Make sure to renew your apportioned registration by May 31 to stay compliant and avoid penalties or delays in operation.
